Ines BradyYou asked, we answered!  Our second “Ask Ines” chat was another success!  See below for the questions and answers on topics like hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, dark circles, and more!

Lindsay: Ines, I have a brown spot on my face that is hard to get rid of. I have tried prescription creams but it never fades. What do you suggest?
Ines:
Hello! So nice to hear from you! Prescription skin creams is what we would suggest to start the process. But, along with that, I would suggest a laser such as Fraxel, or a light treatment such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to get an even better result!

Linda: What would cause freckles to only show up in certain spots on my face when I’m in the sun?

Ines: Depending on your age, what appear to be freckles that only show up in the sun, are more likely hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage. Hyperpigmentation is one of the most frequent complaints that we hear about. First and foremost you should try to stay out of the sun, as much as possible. If you are in the sun, wear a sun screen of at least 45 spf, and a hat to shield your face. You can also begin to use an exfoliant such as a retinol, a vitamin C product, and a skin lightener to start, and then move into peels and laser or light treatments.

Lara: What is the best way to get rid of the fine lines around and under the eyes?

Ines: Hello Lara!! So good to hear from you. There are several ways to deal with fine lines around the eyes. You can start with a good eye cream that has a growth factor in it such as Neocutis Lumiere, or Skinmedica’s TNS Illuminating Eye Cream. These products will help to minimize this problem. If this doesn’t do the trick, you can move into the realm of skin peels and lasers, or on to neurotoxins such as Botox, depending on the depth of the lines.

Jenna: What can I do to lessen the look of dark circles under my eyes?

Ines: Hi Jenna! I am so sorry!! Don’t know how I missed this question!! Thanks for reaching out. What a great question. The first is to stay hydrated. Secondly, you can use an eye cream that works for dark circles, such as the Skinmedica TNS Illuminating Eye Cream. Because we lose volume as we age the skin sits closer to the vessels under the eye and appear as dark circles. You want to add a growth factor to help build collagen, and thus volume to this part of the eye. This will help. If you feel that you need to take a step further, you may want to “add” volume by using a dermal filler in this area. If this interests you please call and schedule a free consultation for further information!

Erin: What is a good starting skin care routine for a 31 year old?

Schedule a ConsultInes: what a great question! I would say that if you are just starting to think about this process, you should always start with a good exfoliant, such as an AHA/BHA or low level Retinol product, along with a good moisturizer, sunscreen, and antioxidant. We have many great medical grade products to choose from. You should schedule a complimentary skin consultation today!

Ines: Thank you all for the great questions! Please know that this information is meant to be informative and is not intended to diagnose any skin related issues.
